Eduardo Galdos Hole-In-One Highlights Day for Gophers
Bluffton, S.C. – The Maroon and Gold shot (+11) and (+5) in their first two rounds at Colleton River Collegiate, and the Gophers sit in twelfth-place with one round left to go. Sophomore Ben Warian paced the Gophers today shooting 72(E) and a 73(+1) in rounds one and two. Warian had five birdies throughout the two rounds.
Junior Connor Glynn followed closely behind Warian in round one with a 72(+1), and followed that up with a 79(+7) in round two. Sophomore Antoine Sale shot an 81(+9) in round one, but recovered well in round two with a 71(-1) – the lowest round of the day for the Gophers, which included a streak of three straight birdies.
Rounding out the first two-rounds for the Gophers were sophomore Alex Eickhoff and freshman Eduardo Galdos. Eickhoff was (+5) with a 77 in round one, and (+2) with a 74 in round two – parring all but three holes. Eduardo Galdos shot a 78(+6) in round one, and a 75(+3) in round two, highlighted by a hole-in-one on hole-four. It was the lone ace of the day, and the first for Galdos as a Gopher.
Quotable:
"Was a tough scoring day but our guys battled and hung in there after a slow start." Gopher head coach Justin Smith said, "We really hit some great iron shots on the par 3's where we were tested with our shot making skills. Tomorrow we will score better on the par 5's while keeping the big numbers off the card to have our best round of the tournament. I am really excited to see this group battle again tomorrow."
Up Next:
The Maroon and Gold will be back in the tee box tomorrow for the third round of Colleton River Collegiate. Eduardo Galdos will kick things off at 8:10am (EST), with the other four Gophers following in ten minute increments. Live stats can be found at the link above.
