Gopher Athletics Travel to Indianapolis for Leadership U Retreat

University of Minnesota Athletics had 14 student-athletes attend a Leadership U Retreat, July 21-24 in Indianapolis. It was the first off-campus Leadership U Retreat since 2019.
Attending the event was Jaydon Antoine (men's track and field), Katie Borowicz (women's basketball), Tiarre Sales (gymnastics), softball's Madeline Ehlke and Delanie Cox, rowing's Madeline Lange, Cady Isom, Grace Loescher, Ella Saunders, Mallory Garfield and Tallulah Sweet and women's cross country's Ava Hill and Taylor Kreitinger and Sydney Kretlow.

Hosted within the NCAA Headquarters, the group began a panel discussion with NCAA teammates and postgraduate interns, all of which were former student-athletes. A Legacy Dinner followed that evening, which provided a leadership and mentoring opportunity. Curriculum over the weekend included:
Gophers that attended the event will continue as members of the Leadership Council throughout the 2022-23 academic year. These student-athletes will also have the opportunity to earn the Leadership U Certificate of Excellence. It was also a chance to learn new leadership strategies and connect with student-athletes from across all sports and visit the NCAA Offices.
