SERIES HISTORY
The Minnesota-Nebraska series can be traced back to 1996, with the Huskers leading the Gophers 8-7-2. Until last season, Minnesota went unbeaten over the Huskers for seven straight matches (5-0-2). Nebraska's most recent over Minnesota came last season at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium.
In the 2-0 win, going in favor of the Huskers, Minnesota led in shots 16-13. Senior goalkeeper Megan Plaschko picked up six saves but was unable to clinch the shutout.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
The Huskers are led offensively by Sarah Weber and Eleanor Dale, who sit amongst the highest shot takers in the Big Ten. Weber, a sophomore, leads the conference with 34 while Dale, a junior, is fourth overall taking 24 chances.
In net, junior Sami Hauk has recorded 29 saves and two wins. She sits at fifth in Big Ten save standings.
LAST SERIES RECAP
In their last non-conference weekend, the Golden Gophers picked up two clean sheet wins over Omaha and Marquette. Combined, Minnesota outshot its opponents 37-6 and outscored them 5-0.
Notably, they held Omaha to a season low of one shot and zero points on the year.
BEND IT LIKE BOMAN
For the first time in her career wearing the Maroon and Gold, junior midfielder Sophia Boman received Co-Offensive Player of the Week nods. She won alongside Michigan State's Camryn Evans.
Boman, who leads Minnesota offensively, notched three goals and an assist while securing seven of her eight points. She's the first Gopher to receive the weekly honor since Sydney Squires in 2017.
FOUR GAME WIN STREAK
For the first time since the 2018 season, Minnesota has recorded four wins in-a-row over Drake, North Dakota, Omaha, and Marquette.
In 2018, the Gophers went on to record five straight wins over Kansas State, SDSU, Utah, Utah State, and Ole Miss.
TACTFUL TRANSFERS
Minnesota's pair of transfers, Sophia Romine and Gabbie Cesarone, have made themselves key players in the backline and midfield. Starting and appearing in all eight matches this season, both have made their way to the leader board for the Gophers.
Romine, a junior midfielder, has played 529 minutes, finished two goals while assisting with two others. She is third overall in points (six) and has recorded nine shots.
Cesarone, a graduate defender, found the back of the net twice last weekend. Both of her goals were headers that came off corner kicks, bumping her to four points overall.
