Gophers Finish Fourth at Gans Creek Classic

Selected members of the Golden Gopher women's team competed at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo., hosted by Missouri. Minnesota finished fourth overall behind Illinois, Lipscomb and Northwestern. True freshman Ali Weimer had another strong performance when she led the Maroon & Gold with a 10th place finish in a time of 20:42.4. Emma Atkinson followed with a 12th place finish in 20:52.3. Brianne Brewster (21:00.6), Anastasia Korzenowski (21:08.4) and Taylor Kreitinger (21:13.0) placed 23rd, 26th and 30th respectively.
The Gans Creek Classic is also the site of the NCAA Midwest Regionals, which will take place in November.
Sydney Kretlow led the Gopher women at the Blugold Invite when she finished 30th overall in a time of 23:17.7. Carley Kremer finished 32nd overall (23:31.8), while Ceci Howes was 34th (23:40.7).
A few of the Gopher men's freshmen ran unattached in the Blugold Invite. Freshman Griffin Ward finished fourth overall with a time of 24:46.9. Tanner Klumph placed 12th and finished in a time of 25:12.8. Dan VanAcker also ran unattached and placed 23rd in 25:38.4.
Minnesota will be back in action Oct. 14 at the annual Nuttycomb Invitational in Madison, Wis. The highlight of the event is an 8-kilometer men's race and a 6-kilometer women's race. The event also includes "B" races for both men and women. All races will be held on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course, located adjacent to University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
