MINNEAPOLIS - Head Coach Alicea Strodel announced the eight-event schedule for the University of Minnesota rowing team during the 2022-23 campaign.
The first of three fall competitions is set for Oct. 1 as the Gophers remain on campus for the Head of the Mississippi Regatta hosted by the Minneapolis Rowing Club. It'll be the 42nd year of the competition on the Mississippi River.
"We love opening the season every year at home at the Head of the Mississippi," Strodel said. "It's a great opportunity for our fans and families to be able to see our athletes compete. Following that, racing both Iowa and Wisconsin gives us conference competition for a benchmark early in our schedule."
The next two events for Minnesota come in neighboring states as it travels to Iowa Oct. 21-22 before continuing with another border battle scrimmage at Wisconsin Oct. 29.
"Like last year, we set up a challenging spring schedule where we will see multiple top-10 teams as well as some new out-of-conference competitions," Strodel added. "We believe that this will set us up for great racing at the Big Ten Championships."
The Gophers first action in 2023 is slated for Mar. 25 during a trip to Bloomington, Ind., competing against Louisville, Tulsa, and the host Hoosiers.
A busy April for Minnesota begins Apr. 7-8 in Sarasota, Fla., at the third-annual B1G Invitational before a short trip to Kansas takes place Apr. 15 at the Kansas Conference Clash. The month ends on the west coast for the Dexter Lake Invitational Apr. 29 in Dexter Lake, Ore.
Minnesota's final competition on the docket is set for May 14 in Baraboo, Wis., at the Big Ten Championship.
