2/14/2023 10:09:00 AM | Women's Swimming & Diving
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota women's swimming and diving program starts its postseason journey this week with the 2023 Big Ten Championships, Wednesday through Saturday, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Big Ten Championships will be streamed via BTN+ (subscription required) and live results can be found on Gophersports.com and the Meet Mobile app (subscription required).
A daily schedule, plus streaming links, ticket information and more can be found at the Big Ten's Championships Central.
The Golden Gophers are coming off sixth-place finishes in each of the last three years at the Big Tens. All-time, Minnesota has won seven conference championships, including four in a row from 2012-15.
Individually, the Gophers have fared well in recent history, claiming 71 event titles since the 05-06 season. Last season, then-sophomore Megan Van Berkom won the 400 IM, while Sarah Bacon, a redshirt fifth year, won on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.
Minnesota, which went 8-2 in duals this year and 4-2 in conference action, recorded 45 'B' cuts and 53 qualifying scores for diving.
Five Gophers have secured multiple NCAA 'B' cuts this season.
Van Berkom leads the way with 'B' cuts in four different events: 500 Free (4:44.60), 200 Fly (1:55.38), 200 IM (1:57.00) and 400 IM (4:05.81).
Sophomore Hannah Cornish joins Van Berkom with more than two 'B' cuts: 50 Free (22.31), 100 Free (48.89) and 200 Free (1:46.74).
Seniors Emma Lezer (100 and 200 breast) and Maggie Summit (50 and 100 free) and junior Paula Rodriguez Rivero (100 and 200 back) also have multiple provisional cuts this season.
On top of these swimming performances, six Gopher divers have notched scores high enough to qualify them for NCAA Diving Zones (March 7-9 in Minneapolis) in at least one event: senior Joy Zhu, juniors Av Osero and Megan Phillip, sophomore Kate LaMonica and freshmen Addie Albrecht and Vivi Del Angel.
