Minnesota closes out the regular season with a 25-5-3 record.
MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The No. 4 Gopher Women's hockey team closed out the regular season with a sweep after a 4-2 win over St. Thomas on Saturday night at St. Thomas Ice Arena.
Minnesota (25-5-3) needed less than half of the first period to get on the board after Abigail Boreen buried Taylor Heise's pass to open the scoring. St. Thomas (8-25-1) evened things up 1:53 later to send the contest into the intermission at 1-1. Heise and Boreen each picked up goals in the second period to extend the Gophers' lead to 3-1 after 40 minutes. The Tommies opened the third period with another scramble goal to cut the lead in half before Abbey Murphy provided a late insurance tally for her 24th of the season.
Skylar Vetter stopped 24 shots for her 22nd win of the season. St. Thomas' Alexa Dobchuk stopped 55 shots in the defeat.
Quotable
"A really hard-fought win tonight," said head coach Brad Frost. "We're proud of our group for how they competed and persevered. Lots of shots again and we defended pretty well. We've reached the end of the season and our team has done a really nice job managing this marathon. Now it's time to turn the page and head into the playoffs and some exciting things are ahead."

• Taylor Heise recorded her team-leading 15th multi-point game of the season.
• Abigail Boreen recorded her sixth multi-goal game of the season.
• Minnesota improves to 10-0-0 in the all-time series.
• Skylar Vetter moves into a tie for 9th place in program history in career wins (28).
