Lincoln, Neb.– The University of Minnesota tennis program (4-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten) fell 4-0 to Nebraska (7-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten) Sunday afternoon at Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb.
In the first position, Zoey Weil and Zeyneb Sarioglan were defeated 2-6 by Huskers pairing Samantha Alicea and Raphaelle Lacasse, claiming the first point with the win.
In singles play, Nebraska earned points in the fifth and sixth positions as Minnesota did not have enough competitors to field the positions. In the fourth position, Zeyneb Sarioglan claimed the first set 6-1 over Samantha Alicea, while dropping the second set 3-6. Three of the four singles matches had first set tiebreakers. No. 1 Anet Koskel and No. 2 Zoey Weil conquered their Nebraska opponents in the tiebreaker, while No. 3 Aiva Schmitz fell 6-7 to Husker's opponent. Following the first set tiebreakers, Nebraska secured the 4-0 victory with Anifsa Danilchenko's 7-6, 6-0 win over Gophers player Aiva Schmitz.
