MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota track and field junior Shelby Frank has been honored by the Big Ten as the Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced Friday.

Frank's Big Ten honor is the sixth of her career and fourth indoor weekly recognition for the junior. The Grand Forks, N.D., native set another lifetime best in the weight throw competition to win the Snowshoe Open with a mark of 23.97m (78-7 3/4). The throw came on her final attempt of the afternoon while her remaining three attempts all went beyond 22-meters. The Gopher now sits at No. 4 in the NCAA in the weight throw this season. The mark improved Frank's lifetime best by nearly a full meter and inches her closer to the school record held by NCAA champion Kaitlyn Long, who's 24.37m (79-11 1/2) came in 2018.

Minnesota is the only institution in the Big Ten this season to have two student-athletes earn multiple weekly honors. Frank's three honors are matched by teammate Amira Young's three. No other women's athletes have earned more than one Big Ten honor this season. Minnesota's six total weekly honors are the most by any team with Michigan's four being the second most.

The Maroon and Gold begin competition at the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio, on Feb. 24 with the meet concluding on Feb. 25.
