GAME ONE
WACO, Texas - The Minnesota Golden Gophers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-1 victory over the No. 21 Maryland Terrapins on Saturday.
Junior Jacie Hambrick (4-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota. The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing no walks and striking out five. Freshman Sydney Schwartz also made an impact in the circle for the Gophers, throwing three shutout innings while allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Offensively, the Maroon and Gold were paced by sophomore Taylor Krapf, who went 3-for-3 in game one with a home run and an RBI. Senior Delanie Cox put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Senior Sydney Strelow also contributed for Minnesota, putting together zero hits in one trip to the plate while adding two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Gophers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Cox's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Minnesota.
The Terrapins failed to push any runs across before the Gophers built on their lead in the fourth inning. Junior Reili Gardner came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minnesota, which brought the Maroon and Gold's lead to 3-0.
Minnesota held Maryland without a run before building their lead to 4-0 in the sixth inning. The Gophers notched a run on Krapf's one-out solo home run off junior Trin Schlotterbeck. Maryland put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Minnesota still held on for the 4-1 win.

Freshman Breezy Burnett put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Freshman Addison Leschber also helped out, going 1-for-3 for Minnesota with a double and two RBI.
