Minnesota Heads East to Play Penn State and Ohio State

The Golden Gophers hit the road to compete against the Penn State Nittany Lions in University Park on March 17 and the No. 9 Ohio State Buckeyes at Ty Tucker Tennis Center on March 19.
The University of Minnesota tennis program (5-7 overall, 0-3 Big Ten) are set to face two Big Ten contenders this weekend, taking on Penn State at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, March 17 and No. 9 Ohio State at 10 a.m. CT on Sunday, March 19.
The Competition
The Nittany Lions are 8-8 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten, while the Buckeyes' are 8-5 overall on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
Penn State is coming in on a three-match losing streak since March 4, dropping to Ohio State (7-0), UCF (5-2) and Charlotte (4-3), while Ohio State's most recent matchup was a 4-3 loss to UCLA on March 12 and a cancellation versus Pepperdine on March 14.
All-Time History
Minnesota met Penn State for the first time during the 1991-92 season, when the Gophers defeated the Nittany Lions, 6-3. Over the years, the Maroon and Gold is 28-9 versus Penn State. The Gophers are 25-27 against Ohio State, first meeting during the 1977-78 season when Minnesota dropped an 8-1 decision to the Buckeyes.
