Minnesota Readies For Senior Night Meet Against Broncos

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Five meet last Saturday, placing ahead of Rutgers and behind Michigan State, Nebraska and Ohio State. On March 4, the Gophers will host the Boise State Broncos at 4 p.m. CT at Maturi Pavilion for their final home meet of the season, which will be broadcast on B1G+.

Maddie Quarles earned a perfect 10 on vault in Lincoln, Neb., the first of her career and second for the Gophers this season.
Halle Remlinger and Gianna Gerdes both impressed on floor, each scoring 9.925 on the afternoon.
Quarles' perfect 10 led the Gophers to a season-high score on vault, as the Maroon and Gold finished with a team score of 49.425 in the event.

Minnesota comes in at No. 22 in the RoadToNationals rankings ahead of their matchup with Boise State. They rank No. 9 on vault, No. 20 on bars, No. 48 on beam and No. 11 on floor.
Junior Mya Hooten, continuing her dominant season in 2023, ranks No. 3 in the nation on floor ahead of Saturday's meet. Before the Big Five meet, Hooten ranked No. 1 in the nation in the event.
Senior Halle Remlinger has been a model of consistency on floor this season, and she comes in at No. 18 in the rankings before the Gophers' meeting with Boise State.

Junior Mya Hooten has earned B1G Weekly awards on three separate occasions in 2023, earning Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors twice and Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week once. Junior Gianna Gerdes was named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week as well, her first weekly conference award of her career. Freshman Seria Johnson earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week after her performance at the Wasatch Classic, where the Gophers competed against Boise State. Redshirt senior Maddie Quarles earned Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week honors after her first career perfect 10 on vault on Feb. 25 at the Big Five meet.

Scouting Boise State
March 4 will be the second time the Broncos and Gophers have competed against each other in 2023, with their first meeting coming at the Wasatch Classic on Jan. 14 in West Valley, Utah. Minnesota finished ahead of Boise State in that outing, and will hope to do so once again as they meet at Maturi Pavilion on Saturday.
The Broncos head into this meet with a record of 4-5 (4-2 in conference play), with victories over Utah State, Southern Utah and BYU. Boise State excels on beam, as they're ranked No. 21 in the nation on the apparatus after 10 competitions.
Emily Lopez is No. 11 in the nation on bars, which includes a perfect 10 she recorded earlier in the year. Courtney Blackson follows closely behind Lopez at No. 18 in the nation. Blackson averages a score of 9.911 in the event in 2023.
