The “U” Hosts Maryland then Goes to Rutgers

The Golden Gophers return to Baseline to host the Maryland Terrapins on Friday, then head to New Brunswick, N.J. to play the Knights on Sunday.

The University of Minnesota tennis program (5-11 overall, 0-5 Big Ten) takes on Maryland on home ground on Friday at 2 p.m. CT, followed by a quick turnaround to the East Coast to compete against Rutgers on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT at Racquet Club in New Brunswick, N.J.

The Competition 
The Terrapins are 13-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten, while the Knights are 9-6 overall on the season and 0-4 in the conference. 

Maryland is coming in on a three-match winning streak, defeating Memphis (5-2), Florida Atlantic (4-2) and Rutgers (6-1), while Rutgers' most recent matchup was a 6-1 loss to Maryland on March 26. 

All-Time History
The Maroon and Gold met the Terrapins for the first time during the 1995-96 season, when Minnesota conquered Maryland, 6-1. The Gophers first met Rutgers in 2009, sweeping the Knights 7-0. Over the years, Minnesota is 7-6 overall versus Maryland and undefeated against Rutgers, going 10-0 all-time.
