HOW IT HAPPENED
Ole Miss took an early lead, scoring three in the first inning off a two-run single and a sacrifice fly. Riley Swenson then put Minnesota on the board with a leadoff home run off freshman Grayson Saunier in the second inning.
The Golden Gophers kept the deficit at 3-1 before tying the score in the third. Minnesota got back-to-back run-scoring doubles from junior Ike Mezzenga and Perry to pick up a couple of runs, which brought the score level at 3-3.
Ole Miss broke that tie and grabbed a 4-3 lead moving into the fifth before Minnesota grabbed its first lead at 5-4. The Golden Gophers added two to their tally on Perry's two-run homer to center.
The Rebels scored two in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth to go up 9-5. The Golden Gophers scored twice on Neels' two-run homer, tightening the Ole Miss lead to 9-7, but the Gophers were unable to get any closer.
