DenHartog Homers Twice in 13-1 Victory Against Michigan State

Natalie DenHartog hit two home runs, making her the Big Ten's solo second all-time leader with 67
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Graduate Natalie DenHartog put together a brilliant outing at the plate Friday, hitting two home runs for the fifth time in her career to help power the Minnesota Golden Gophers over the Michigan State Spartans 13-1. The Hopkins, Minn., native is now the Big Ten's solo second all-time home runs leader with 67.
Senior Bri Enter (2-3) got the win out of the bullpen for Minnesota (24-15, 5-5). The right-hander wen
t five innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing no walks and striking out five. Senior Autumn Pease started the ballgame and went two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out two.
DenHartog went 4-for-5 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with a double while driving in two runs. Sophomore Taylor Krapf added to DenHartog's awesome power-hitting performance by going 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI along with one walk. Senior Amani Bradley also helped out for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Minnesota's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Krapf.
The Golden Gophers then held the Spartans scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Minnesota picked up a run on DenHartog's two-out solo home run off of sophomore Madison Taylor, which brought the score to 8-0 in favor of the Golden Gophers.
Michigan State narrowed Minnesota's lead to 8-1 before the Golden Gophers stretched the advantage to 13-1 in the seventh inning. The Golden Gophers bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a two-run double off the bat of freshman Sydney Schwartz. The score remained 13-1 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota coasted to the win.
