Minnesota Finishes in 7th at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational

COLUMBUS, OH - The University of Minnesota Women's Golf team concluded their regular season at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational today. The 59th-ranked Gophers finished the 54-hole event in seventh with a team score of 879 (+15). Individually, Minnesota had two top ten finishers in freshmen Isabella McCauley and Luisamariana Mesones who both tied for 9th.
After posting a 577 between rounds one and two, the team shot a 302 (+15) in the final 18.
No. 25 Ohio State remained at the top of the leaderboard and finished in first with a three-day score of 854 (-10).

"We weren't as sharp today and the conditions and setup were tougher," said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "We need to clean some things up before we leave Wednesday as Fox Chapel requires sharp execution and decision-making. We had a solid showing this week under pressure and I'm really proud of the team."
Notable:
Isabella McCauley shot just one round over par across the tournament and moved forward three places today. Her 54-hole total of 70-72-73=215 (-1) earned her a second top-10 finish in a row tied for 9th.
Alongside her teammate, Luisamariana Mesones also finished in the top 10 tied for 9th, and went under par. She carded an impressive 13 birdies and 31 pars shooting 70-70-75=215 (-1).
Senior Grace Curran finished the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in a tie for 41st. Curran shot a three-round total of 71-78-76=225 (+9).
Emma Carpenter recorded 11 pars in her round today shooting 72-76-78=226 (+10) in Columbus. She finished the event tied for 46th.
Leah Herzog notched 32 pars and five birdies during the event. She finished with a three-round score of 75-76-78=229 (+13) to tie for 54th.
Ruby Chi finished her sixth round as a Gopher today. She shot 79-77-87=243 (+27) and finished in 83rd.

The Gophers will begin the post-season and head to Pittsburgh, PA., for the Big Ten Championship Apr. 21-23.
