The Gophers pick up a win over 12th ranked Baylor
LAKE ELMO, MN - The University of Minnesota women's golf team played the final 18 holes of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M earlier today. Continuing her momentum from yesterday, graduate Grace Curran finished the final round shooting a four under par 68. As a team, Minnesota improved by eight strokes from round two and finished in 11th place with a tournament score of 290-301-293=884 (+20). Minnesota's win over 12th-ranked Baylor is the first time any Gopher team has picked up a victory at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
South Carolina was crowned champion with a three-day score of 273-282-283=838 (-26).

"Today is a huge day for the program. For the first time in the history of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, the Minnesota program recorded a win. Not just a win but a win over the 12th-ranked team in the nation" said head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. "This might seem like an odd stat to highlight but to me it shows the growth and future of this program. What Grace did this week was remarkable, I am so proud of her and I know this finish means the world to her, as it does to us. We're excited to tee it quickly next Monday and continue this momentum."

Graduate Grace Curran led the Gophers for the second straight round boosting herself 21 spots up the leaderboard. She finished the tournament tied for 18th with a three-round score of 74-72-68= 214 (-2)
Isabella McCauley shot her best round of the tournament today carding a 70 (-2). The sophomore tied for 38th and had a final score of 76-74-70=220 (+4).
Hailey Loh's 40 pars were tied for the fifth most by any player in the tournament. She finished in a tie for 50th with a three-round score of 72-75-79=226 (+10).
Sara Tomaszewski moved up three places on the leaderboard in the final round to finish in a tie for 54th. Tomaszewski shot a three-round score of 71-81-76=228 (+12).
Graduate Megan Furtney rolled home one birdie and ten pars in round three. She had a three-round score of 73-80-81=234 (+18) and ended the event tied for 59th.

In just a handful of days, the Gophers will travel to Tacoma, Wash. for the Leadership and Golf Invitational. This tournament will be held at the Chambers Bay Golf Course Sept. 18-19.
