1/20/2024 5:48:00 PM | Women's Hockey
BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The University of Minnesota women's hockey team (18-5-1) completed a weekend sweep over Bemidji State (3-20-1) after a 3-1 win at the Sanford Center on Saturday afternoon.Â
In a flip of the Friday script, Bemidji State opened the scoring just over seven minutes into the first period off of a redirected shot from the point.
Emma Kreisz's fourth goal of the season evened the contest with 4:32 to go in the second period. The power play goal was assisted by Madeline Wethington and fellow freshman Ava Lindsay.
Early in the third period the Gophers took their first lead of the game behind a power-play goal from Ava Lindsay. Josefin Bouveng added another goal later in the period, her second goal of the series, to provide some insurance.
Junior goaltender Skylar Vetter made 24 saves for her 9th victory of the season. The Gophers outshot the Beavers 34-25.
Notable
- Today's victory extends Minnesota's win streak over Bemidji State to 22 - the longest win streak in series history.
- Josefin Bouveng has now scored a goal in five-straight games against Bemidji State.
- Ava Lindsay's 8th goal of the season moves her into a four-way tie (Bouveng, Hemp, Huber) for second on the team.
