MINNEAPOLIS - Three members of the Golden Gopher swimming and diving program earned Big Ten honors after their performances in Minnesota's first meet of the season at Nebraska. Sophomore YuTong Wang was named Big Ten Men's Diver of the Week and freshmen Jacob Johnson and Livi Wanner were each named Freshman of the Week.
Wang won both the 1 and 3-meter competition last week with a score of 387.30 (3-meter) and 349.70 (1-meter). This is his first Big Ten honor of the season after being named Diver of the Week three times last season.
Johnson picked up two individual wins in his Maroon and Gold debut against South Dakota: the 200 fly (1:45:51) and 100 free (45.50). His 200-fly time ranks second-fastest in the NCAA after the first week.
