Minnesota Tennis to Conclude Fall Season at CSUN Fall Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota tennis program heads on the road for the final time this season to compete in the 2024 CSUN Fall Invitational from Nov. 8-10 in Northridge, Calif. Hosted by California State University, Northridge, the tournament will take place at the Matador Tennis Complex.
The Gophers will face six teams over the weekend, including CSUN, San Jose State, Youngstown State, Pacific, Idaho, and Loyola Marymount.
Minnesota is scheduled to face CSUN in singles and Youngstown State in doubles on Friday.
So Far This Season
This weekend's event will mark the final tournament of the 2024 Gopher tennis fall season. The 'U' opened the season by hosting the 12th-annual Gopher Invitational from Sept. 20-22, during which the Gophers went 21-5 in singles and 13-5 in doubles.
The Gophers then competed in the ITA Central Regional Championships from Oct. 9-12, where Yinong Ma and Anlin Xie advanced to the round of 32 in doubles, and Deniz Turan went 5-0 to capture the B draw finals.
Earlier this week, Anali Kocevar participated in the ITF W15 tournament, finishing 2-1 with an appearance in the main draw.
Tournament Format
The three-day event will begin on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. (CT), with Minnesota opening against Youngstown State in doubles and facing CSUN in singles.
The invitational will continue on day two, the Gophers will take on San Jose State in singles and Pacific in doubles, starting with singles at 11 a.m. (CT).
The final day will see Minnesota competing against UTEP in singles and San Jose State in doubles, with singles matches beginning at 11 a.m. (CT).
Gopher Participants
Nine University of Minnesota student-athletes are set participate in either singles and doubles competition throughout the weekend: Juniors Aiva Schmitz, Arina Valitova, Sofia Pinto, Anali Kocevar, sophomores Jeselle Ante, Mia Liepert, Anlin Xie and freshmen Nora Knezevic and Deniz Turan are all to play in their final tournament of the fall season.
