Gophers Complete Day One of 2024 Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS ā The 2024 Minnesota Invite kicked off with two relays on Wednesday evening at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.Ā
The evening began with the 200 medley, which saw both the Gopher men's and women's 'A' squads swim their fastest times so far this season.
The women's 'A' squad of Ava Yablonski, Ava Goodno, Morgan Thomas, and Hannah Cornish recorded a time of 1.37.66 for second.
The women's 'B' group of Faith Johnson, Ava Gustafson, Claire Reinke, and Livi Wanner finished 10th with a time of 1:40.18. The 'C' group took 11th, as Paula Rodriguez Rivero, Grace Drabot, Kami Periat, and Mina Kaljevic posted a time of 1:41.95. The Gopher 'D' group finished 15th, as Elise Jacobs, Keira Mullins, Rachel Conley, and Paige Moreen posted a 1:43.88.
The men's 'A' squad, consisting of Casey Stowe, Kaiser Neverman, Jacob Johnson, and Davide Harabagiu, finished second at 1:25.84.
The men's 'B' group of Ryan Slonac, Joe Rudd, Matt McDonald, and Conner Groya notched a time of 1:27.65, finishing 10th. The 'C' group of Luke Leonidas, Luke Mychalowych, Ian Steffan, and Tommy McCarthy recorded a time of 1:28.23, finishing 11th.Ā
Following the 200 medley relay, each team swam the 800 freestyle relay for the first time this season.Ā
The Gopher women's 'A' team of Anja Kaljevic, Hannah Cornish, Mina Kaljevic, and Morgan Thomas finished second at 7:08.73. The 'B' squad of Katie McCarthy, Jade Roghair, Mira Keller, and Rachel Conley finished 8th at 7:17.23.
The Gopher men's 'A' squad of Bar Soloveychik, Joey Tepper, Alberto Hernandez, and Kaiser Neverman recorded a time of 6:21.92, finishing second. The 'B' group, consisting of Joe Polyak, Tyler Hansen, Jayden Edmonson, and Lovro Serdarevic, finished 7th at 6:28.96.
The Minnesota Invite continues tomorrow with the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 200 free relay, and 1 meter dive events. Swimming prelims start at 10 a.m. CT while diving prelims begin at approximately 1 p.m. CT. Finals are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT.Ā
