Gopher Tennis Heads to Boise to face Oregon, Boise State

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota tennis program will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Boise, Ida. this weekend for matchups against Oregon and Boise State. The Gophers (6-0) will face the Ducks (4-3) on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 12:00 PM (CT), then the Broncos (2-2) on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 11:00 AM (CT). both at Boas Indoor Tennis Center.
The Competition
Minnesota is 4-1 all-time against Oregon. The Gophers and Ducks last matched up on Jan. 31, 2015, during which Minnesota rallied from behind to win 4-3 in Eugene, Ore.
Minnesota is 0-2 all-time against Boise State. The teams first met in 1998 and last faced each other on Feb. 7, 2004. In their last match, the Gophers fell to the Broncos 3-4 on the road.
The Season So Far
The Gophers begin a stretch of four consecutive road matches following six straight at home to open the spring season. Last Saturday, Feb. 10, Minnesota defeated both South Dakota and St. Thomas 7-0 at Baseline Tennis Center, bringing the Maroon and Gold to an overall 6-0 record on the year.
Through the seven Gopher student-athletes that have seen official dual-match action this season, Minnesota is 35-1 in singles (30-0 in singles spots two through six) and 16-2 in doubles. The Gophers have clinched the doubles point in all but one of their matches, only dropping it in their 6-1 victory versus North Dakota.
