STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team returns to Williams Arena on Sunday, hosting Rutgers at 5:30 p.m. The game will be shown on BTN and broadcast on KFAN 100.3 FM. Sunday's meeting marks the only contest between these two teams in the regular season. Minnesota is 10-7 all-time against the Scarlet Knights and holds a 7-1 mark at Williams Arena. Since Rutgers joined the league in 2014, Minnesota is 8-7 against Rutgers.
• Minnesota split action against Rutgers last year, each winning on its home court. The Gophers fell to the Scarlet Knights, 90-55, in Piscataway, N.J., when the Gophers were without Dawson Garcia in that game. Minnesota, however, won at Williams Arena in the two team's last meeting. The Gophers hit a buzzer beater to win the game, 75-74.
• Minnesota and Rutgers are two of six teams with six wins in Big Ten play. Also holding six wins are Indiana, Iowa, Maryland and Penn State. Minnesota, Rutgers and Indiana have seven games remaining, while Penn State, Maryland and Iowa have six.
• Minnesota dropped its second consecutive road game Thursday night when it fell 84-76 to No. 2 Purdue. The Gophers jumped out to a 41-35 halftime lead, but the Boilermakers scored 49 points in the second half to Minnesota's 33 to come back and win the game. Both programs had three score in double digits, led by Minnesota's Dawson Garcia and Purdue's Zach Edey, who each had 24 points. Minnesota committed just five turnovers in the game, the least amount of the season and the first time committing five or fewer turnovers since Dec. 11, 2021 (4 at Michigan).
• Cam Christie has five straight double-digit games heading into the Rutgers game on Saturday. Christie had 17 points at Penn State, followed by 15 against Northwestern. He added 19 against Michigan State and another 15 against Iowa last Sunday. On Thursday, the rookie posted 13 with three treys. The true freshman averages 11.3 ppg and ranks second on the team in scoring. He ranks second on the team in three-pointers (50), trailing Mike Mitchell Jr. by two (52). Christie averages 28.6 minutes, shooting 45.1 from the field and 42 percent from beyond the arc.

ABOUT RUTGERS
• Rutgers is 14-10 and 6-7 and bringing in a four-game win streak into the game Sunday. After losing three straight, the Scarlet Knights have defeated Michigan and Maryland on the road and Wisconsin and Northwestern on their home court.
•  Despite only playing in the last four games, Jeremiah Williams has made his presence known. The Iowa State transfer averages 14.3 ppg in that stretch and 21 rebounds. Aundre Hyatt averages 11.3, followed by Clifford Omoruyi averages 10.9. Omoruyi is one of the best defensive bigs with the nation's third-best 79 blocks and averages 9.1 rebounds.
•  As a team, Rutgers scores just 66.8 points, but only allows 64.8, including 57.8 in the past five games. Only Maryland allows less opponent points in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knights are shooting 39.1 from the field and just 29.4 from three-point range. Rutgers averages 38.7 rebounds and shooting 65.7 from the charity stripe.
