Minnesota Falls in Final Game of College Baseball Classic

SURPRISE, Ariz. --The Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the No. 7 Oregon State Beavers, 6-1, on Monday despite the efforts of junior Jake Perry, who went 1-for-3 with a triple.
Senior Thomas Gross (1-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Minnesota (2-2). Junior Seth Clausen was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 1.2 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.
Offensively, the Golden Gophers were led by Perry, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a triple and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Golden Gophers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Junior Brady Counsell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Minnesota and get them on the board. The Golden Gophers were unable to get any closer, as Oregon State added three runs to their tally on the way to a 6-1 final.
GAME NOTES
» Minnesota pitchers limited Oregon State to just 2-for-10 (.200) with runners in scoring position.
» Counsell, Perry, Boston Merila, Ike Mezzenga and Weber Neels each reached base for the fourth straight game.
