Late Rally Isn't Enough to Overcome Huskies in the Ninth

FORT MYERS, Fla. --The Minnesota Golden Gophers fell to the Northeastern Huskies, 6-2, on Sunday.
Senior Thomas Gross (1-2) came out of the bullpen for Minnesota (2-4) and took the loss. unior Tucker Novotny started the game strong for the Gophers, throwing four shutout innings, allowing two hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.
Neels led the way offensively for the Golden Gophers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. Sam Hunt doubled and drove in the Gophers second run of the day in a pinch-hit appearance. Junior Jake Perry also chipped in, going 2-for-4 for Minnesota.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-0, the Gophers first put runs on the board in the bottom of the ninth inning. Minnesota scored twice in the inning on run-scoring doubles from Neels and Hunt. The late-game rally was not enough and the Gophers fell to 2-4 on the season.

» Perry, Neels and Ike Mezzenga extended their on-base streaks to six games.
