Remington Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Minnesota Golden Gophers right-handed pitcher Kyle Remington has been named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The Grand Rapids, Mich. native pitched 3.1 innings of relief for the Gophers, striking out six of the 13 batters he faced. He did not allow a run in two appearances, giving up just one walk and two hits. Remington held opponents to a measly .167 average against him for the week.
For the season, the 6-foot righty has struck out 12 batters in 10.2 innings pitched, allowing just three walks.
This is Remington's first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award and the first weekly award for the Gophers this season.
Purdue catcher/first baseman Luke Gaffney shared the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
