Minnesota to Host Denver on Sunday, Face Penn in Tampa on Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS - On Sunday, the University of Minnesota tennis program will host the University of Denver after playing their last four matches on the road. The Gophers will face the No. 37-ranked Pioneers at 12:00 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
Then, on Tuesday, March 5th, the Maroon and Gold will travel to IMG Academy in Tampa, Flor. to face Pennsylvania University on neutral courts.
The Season So Far
Last weekend, the Gophers matched up against Memphis and Utah in Memphis, Tenn. Minnesota went 0-2 on the weekend, falling in a 4-1 match to Memphis and a 4-3 match to Utah. The Gophers will go into Sunday with a 7-3 spring season record.
Among the seven Minnesota student-athletes that have seen official dual-match action this season, the Maroon and Gold are 46-14 in singles and 28-22 in doubles.
The Competition
Minnesota is 3-2 all-time against Denver. The Gophers' last meeting with the Pioneers ended with a 6-1 Denver win on neutral courts in Houston, Texas on March 2, 2019. The Pioneers have a 7-4 record so far in the 2024 season, with an ITA team ranking of 37. Sunday's match will mark Minnesota's third-consecutive against a Top-50 ranked opponent.
Penn claims a record of 9-3 on the year, with a matchup against South Florida on the docket before the Quakers take on the Gophers.
