Van Berkom Breaks School Record, Earns All-America Honors

ATHENS, Ga. - Senior Megan Van Berkom swam to All-America status for the third time in her decorated career on Friday evening at Jack Bauerle Pool.
The Chatham, Ill. native opened the day by breaking the school record in the 400 IM prelims with a time of 4:02.53. The time was good for third and sent her to the A final.
In Friday night's finals, Van Berkom once again broke the record, finishing fifth with a time of 4:02.51 on her way to being named an All-American.
Freshman Katie McCarthy broke her own personal record in the 400 IM prelims as well. She touched the wall in 4:10.59, dropping nearly two seconds off her previous best.
In the diving well, Vivi Del Angel and Elna Widerstrom took to the 3-meter springboard. Del Angel finished prelims with a score of 276.45 while Widerstrom dove to a 226.80.
The 2024 NCAA Championships will conclude on Saturday. Prelims will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT with finals to follow at 5:00 p.m. CT. Van Berkom will swim the 200 fly, McCarthy and Eliot Kennedy will swim the 1650 free, while Del Angel will compete on the platform. Both swimming and diving events are broadcast on ESPN+.
