Minnesota Freshmen Stand Out on Day Two of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Minnesota freshmen Davide Harabagiu and YuTong Wang put together a pair of great performances for the Gophers on Friday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Harabagiu broke the Minnesota 100 fly record for the third time this season, while Wang earned All-America honors in his second event.

Swimming in the 100 fly prelims, Harabagiu clocked a 45.16 to break his own school record. This is the third time this season the freshman has accomplished the feat.

In the men's 3-meter dive, Wang placed fifth in the preliminary round with a score of 391.45. After moving on to the A final, the Beijing, China native dove a 365.90 to secure All-America status for the second-straight day.

Senior Kaiser Neverman also swam the 100 fly prelims. His time of 46.25 was his season best.

Minnesota's 400 medley relay team of Casey Stowe, Joe Rudd, Harabagiu and Neverman finished 17th with a time of 3:06.04.

The 2024 men's NCAA Championships conclude tomorrow. Harabagiu will participate in the 100 free, while Neverman will swim the 200 fly. Bar Soloveychik and Chris Nagy will both compete in the 1650 free, while Drew Bennett will take to the tower. 

The Gophers will round out the championships with Harabagiu, Neverman, Lovro Serdarevic and Stowe swimming in the 400 free relay.

The prelims will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT with finals at 5:00 p.m. CT. The meet is streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available on GopherSports.com.
