DeBord and Oakland Shine in Minnesota's 14-4 Win Against Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior Morgan DeBord and sophomore Jess Oakland each racked up three RBIs to help power the Minnesota Golden Gophers past the Charlotte 49ers 14-4 on Monday.
Senior Bri Enter (5-3) got the win for Minnesota (9-8). The right-hander went four shutout innings, giving up four hits, one walk and striking out two.
DeBord went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double in addition to her three RBIs and Oakland put together a 1-for-2 day with a home run and a walk, supplementing her three RBI performance for the Golden Gophers. Junior Kayla Chavez compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Senior Maddy Ehlke's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Minnesota.
The 49ers failed to push any runs across before the Golden Gophers offense got back to their scoring ways the next inning. The Minnesota offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of senior Sydney Strelow, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 6-0.
Minnesota held Charlotte scoreless before expanding their lead to 8-0 the following inning. The Golden Gophers pushed two runs across on a two-run double from Chavez that brought home sophomore Addison Leschber and senior Delanie Cox.
Minnesota held the 49ers scoreless before their offense got back in action the next inning. The Golden Gophers scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a three-run double off the bat of DeBord, bringing the Minnesota advantage to 12-0.
The Golden Gophers kept Charlotte scoreless before expanding their lead to 14-0 the following inning. Minnesota scored twice on Oakland's two-run homer. Charlotte put four runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Golden Gophers still coasted to the 14-4 win.
