Four Minnesota Players Record Multiple Hits in 6-1 Victory Against Longwood

Valencia led the way offensively, recording three hits against the Lancers
CLEMSON, SC - Four Minnesota players collected at least two hits to help lead the Golden Gophers over the Longwood Lancers 6-1 Friday.
Senior Jacie Hambrick (2-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Minnesota (12-9). The right-hander went 5.1 innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing no walks and striking out two. Senior Bri Enter also made an impact in the circle for the Golden Gophers, throwing 1.2 shutout innings while allowing no hits, with no walks and two strikeouts.
Junior Nani Valencia led the hit barrage for the Golden Gophers, going 3-for-4 in the ballgame with a double, a triple and two RBI. Senior Morgan DeBord put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Gophers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the third inning. Minnesota got an RBI single from senior Sydney Strelow, scoring DeBord from third base.
The Golden Gophers then held the Lancers scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Minnesota offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of junior Kayla Chavez, which brought the score to 5-0 in favor of the Golden Gophers.
Longwood narrowed Minnesota's lead to 5-1 before the Golden Gophers stretched the advantage to 6-1 in the seventh inning. The Golden Gophers scored a run on Valencia's two-out RBI double. The score remained 6-1 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota coasted to the win.
