HOW IT HAPPENED

The Gophers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Oakland put Minnesota on the board with a lead off home run off freshman Jaylee Ojo.

The Hawkeyes then tied the ballgame at one before the Gophers came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Minnesota scored a run when Chavez drew a walk from Ojo that scored Burnett, which brought the Golden Gophers lead to 2-1.

Iowa fought back to even the ballgame at two before Minnesota reclaimed a 6-2 advantage in the ninth inning. The Gophers bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Oakland. The score remained 6-2 for the rest of the game, as Minnesota coasted to the win.
