Gophers Set to Begin 2024 Fall Season

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's golf team is set to begin the 2024 fall season at the Boilermaker Classic in West Lafayette, Ind. Hosted by Big Ten foe Purdue, the tournament will feature 15 teams and take place at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the Kampen-Cosler Course.
The Gophers will look to start the season strong with three of four new additions to the team making their Gopher debut in West Lafayette. Junior Isabella McCauley will seek to defend her title after winning the event one year ago.
"As a new coaching staff, we are very excited to begin this new era of Gopher golf," said head coach Matt Higgins. "With four new additions to the roster, these ladies are beyond ready to represent the University of Minnesota. This tournament will be a great test to begin the year."
The two-day, 54-hole, stroke play event will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT on Monday, Sept. 2 with round one and two being played continuously. The final round will begin at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Lineup:
Representing the Maroon and Gold in the lineup are freshman newcomers Reese McCauley and Jordana Windhorst-Knudsen along with sophomores Mariana Mesones and Sara Tomaszewski. Rounding out the Gophers lineup are juniors Ruby Chi and Isabella McCauley.
The Field:
The Gophers will be joined by host Purdue, Abilene Christian, Alabama, Ball State, Georgia Southern, Indiana, James Madison, Kent State, Michigan, North Florida, Notre Dame, Old Dominion, Purdue Western Kentucky, and Xavier.
The Course:
Competition will be held on the Pete Dye designed Kampen-Cosler Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The course plays as a par-72 and is 6,299 yards.
