STARTING FIVE
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball program is on the road for the second-straight game when it travels to Maryland on Monday, Jan. 13 in College Park, Md. The Golden Gophers are 3-16 all time against the Terrapins, including a 1-8 record in College Park. Since Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014, Minnesota is 3-12 in league action against the Terps.
• The Golden Gophers snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Terrapins in their last meeting when they defeated Maryland, 65-62 at Williams Arena on Jan. 7. The win also marked seven-straight for the Gophers and third straight Big Ten victory. In that win, former Gopher Cam Christie led the team with 12 points, followed by Dawson Garcia with 11.
• Minnesota is looking to get back in the win column Monday after three-straight Big Ten losses, including Friday's 59-80 loss to Wisconsin. Dawson Garcia had 22 points and 10 rebounds.
• In the loss to Wisconsin, Dawson Garcia added his fourth double double of the season. The Savage, Minn., native also had a double double against Central Michigan (22 points, 11 rebounds), Michigan State (18 points, 11 rebounds), FDU (18 points, 10 rebounds) and now Wisconsin (22 points, 10 rebounds). His four double doubles match last year's amount, which bettered his three in 2022-23. In all, Garcia has 15 collegiate double-double games. He had three in his first year with Minnesota and at Marquette (2020-21), one at North Carolina and now four in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. His four double doubles this year is the fastest already in 16 games.
• Minnesota ranks first in the Big Ten in blocks and 23rd nationally. The Gophers have registered two or more blocks in every game this year, including a season-high nine against Morgan State. Femi Odukale has contributed a block in 12 of 16 games, and multiple blocks in four games.

GARCIA IN THE RECORDBOOKS
Dawson Garcia has scored 1,238 points as a Golden Gopher and 1,733 as a collegiate athlete. That number ranks 24th in school history (excluding vacated games). His 22 points vs. Wisconsin surpassed him over Melvin Newbern, who played for the Gophers from 1988-90 and scored 1,224 points.
