Minnesota Ready for 46th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota's men's and women's cross country teams are headed to Chicago for a meeting at the 46th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational. The meet is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3, with the first race beginning at 9 a.m. CT at Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course.
The four-race event begins with the women's 6K at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K at 9:40 a.m. The race will not be live streamed. Fans can follow live results at Live.Athletic.net.

Boston College, Cal Poly, Florida State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Louisville, Loyola (Ill.), Minnesota, NC State, No. 16 North Carolina, Northwestern, Providence, Santa Clara, Toledo, No. 24 Washington, No. 7 Wisconsin.

The University of Minnesota's women finished as the runner-up while the men's team finished third at the 39th Roy Griak Invitational at Les Bolstad Golf Course. Redshirt freshman Nolan Sutter was fifth overall on the men's side while the top runner in uniform on the women's side was redshirt sophomore Taylor Isabel, who was sixth.
Isabel was the top finisher among Minnesota's scoring lineup (5-7-9-11-13) in a time of 21:53.5. Minnesota's men finished third overall as a team, the program's second straight third-place finish at the event. Sutter was the team's leader at fifth, clocking a 25:07.3 to finish fifth.
TRIO OF GOPHERS HONORED BY BIG TEN
The University of Minnesota hauled in three of the Big Ten Conference's Cross Country weekly awards after the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 19. Taylor Isabel claimed the women's Athlete of the Week while freshmen Norah Hushagen and Nolan Sutter swept the Freshman of the Week honors.
Isabel's sixth-place time of 21:53.5 at the Griak was 60 seconds better than her 2024 time on the same course and improved her from 51st to 6th overall. At the Griak Sutter clocked an 8K lifetime best of 25:07.3 to finish fifth at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational, the highest placing freshman finisher in the field of 115 runners. In her first race in uniform Hushagen was the top freshman finisher at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational, placing 10th in a 6K time of 22:11.4. At 10th overall, Hushagen was third among the Minnesota lineup that finished second as a team at the 2025 Roy Griak Invitational.
GOPHERS ALSO TO COMPETE AT EAU CLAIRE
Minnesota will also send a portion of student-athletes to the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, held at Whitetail Golf Course near Colfax, Wis. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with the men's 8K followed by the women's 6K at 10:15 a.m. Live results for the event can be followed at WayzataTiming.com.

The Maroon and Gold women will have two weeks to prepare for Wisconsin's Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison on Oct. 17, while the men will head to Missouri for the Pre-NCAAs meet on Oct. 18.
