Anthony Smith Named All-Big Ten First Team

Minnesota had seven players on defense and special teams named All-Big Ten
The Big Ten announced its all-conference teams today for defense and special teams and the Gophers had seven players recognized.
Leading the way was Anthony Smith, who was named First Team by the coaches and Second Team by the media. Smith was one of the most disruptive pass rushers in college football and finished the season with 10.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for loss and 32 tackles.
Koi Perich was recognized as a Second Team player by the media and a Third Team contributor according to the coaches. Perich finished third on the team with 77 tackles.
Tom Weston was a Third Team selection by the media and was named Honorable Mention by the coaches.
Kerry Brown (55 tackles) and Maverick Baranowski (team-leading 86 tackles) were named Honorable Mention by the coaches and media, while Deven Eastern (37 tackles) was named Honorable Mention by the coaches and long snapper Alan Soukup was Honorable Mention by the coaches.
The Big Ten will announce offensive honorees and sportsmanship award on Thursday.
