Minnesota Heads to Puerto Rico to Open 2025 Spring Season

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota Women's Golf team is set to begin its 2025 spring season in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, at the Puerto Rico Classic from Feb. 2-4. The competition will be held at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.

The Puerto Rico Classic is a 54-hole, three round event played over the course of three days. The first day of the tournament will begin at 7:00 a.m. CT, the second at 6:30 a.m. CT, while the final round will begin Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. CT. All three rounds will begin with a shotgun start.

Lineup: 
The Gophers' lineup will feature junior Isabella McCauley, sophomore Mariana Mesones, freshman Reese McCauley, sophomore Sara Tomaszewski, and junior Madison Le.

The Field: 
The 17 teams joining the Maroon and Gold in Puerto Rico are Purdue, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Southern, Furman, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kent State, LSU, Michigan State, North Florida, North Texas, Northwestern, Ole Miss, UNCW, UTSA, and Vanderbilt. 

The Course: 
The Grand Reserve Golf Club is one of only two championship courses in the Caribbean and has hosted the Puerto Rico Open since 2008. The course measures 6,305 yards and plays as a par 72.

Looking Ahead: 
Following the Puerto Rico Classic, the team will travel to Peoria, Ariz., for the Westbrook Invitational. This tournament will be held Feb. 23 and 24.
