Minnesota Hosts the Gopher Indoor Classic at U.S. Bank Stadium

MINNEAPOLIS- The 'U' stays home this weekend for the Gopher Indoor Classic being hosted by Minnesota Feb. 28-Mar. 2. This tournament will take place in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank Stadium. This weekend will mark the 4th weekend in a row of the Gophers playing in a different time zone. The 'U' has played in the mountain time zone in Arizona, eastern time zone in Florida, Pacific time zone in California, and finally central time zone this week in the Gopher Indoor Classic. Minnesota will face a loaded schedule and each game will have live stats and be broadcasted live on B1G+

Gopher Indoor Classic
The Gophers continue their 51st season of competition at the Gopher Indoor Classic. This tournament was last played two years ago at US Bank Stadium from March 10-12. The schools competing in that Gopher Indoor Classic were the 'U', St. Thomas, Central Michigan, Idaho State, NDSU, and Drake. 2025 is only the second time that the Gopher Indoor Classic at US Bank Stadium has been held. Gopher Softball is also hosting a youth clinic on the field following the conclusion of the Gophers 3:00pm game on Saturday March 1. The clinic is open to grades 2-6.
Checking Out the Field
Minnesota continues their run of facing stiff competition. The Gophers will square off with North Dakota State twice, Miami (OH), Wagner, and St. Thomas. The 'U' begins by taking on North Dakota State. The Bison are 7-7 on the year and won 3 out of their 4 games last weekend. Minnesota finishes day 1 of the Gopher Indoor Classic by facing Wagner. The Seahawks are 0-3 on the year. Miami (OH) is next on the Gopher schedule. The Maroon and Gold have already played the Red Hawks once this season coming away with a 4-3 win in 8 innings. This game took place during the first weekend of the season in Arizona. Minnesota squares off with NDSU again on Sunday March 2. To finish off the Gopher Indoor Classic the 'U' faces St. Thomas. The Tommies are 6-7 this season so far. They started the year 4-1 but have hit a rough patch going 2-6 in their last eight games. They have only been shutout one time this season.
History
The Gophers are 22-2 all-time against NDSU with the most recent win coming 2-0 in the last Gopher Indoor Classic in 2023. Wagner and Minnesota have never faced each other until this weekend in Minneapolis. The 'U' beat Miami (OH) earlier this year 4-3. Prior to that the Gophers and Redhawks last squared off in 2003 with the Maroon and Gold winning 3-2. Minnesota and St. Thomas have played each other twice with the 'U' being victorious 8-0 in 2023 as the last time these two faced each other
Stats Highlights From Last Weekend
Margaret Tobias was the standout Gopher at the plate last weekend in California. Tobias hit .438, slugged .438, and had an OB% of .500. She amassed 7 hits in 16 ABs and had 2 walks. Nani Valencia had her early season hit streak snapped over the weekend at 11 games. She then picked up right where she left with getting a hit in each of the last 3 games of the weekend. Taylor Krapf had a big weekend slugging at the plate. She only had 2 hits for the weekend but both hits were home runs. She amassed 5 RBI and 8 total bases off those two hits. 5 Gophers hit over .300 for the weekend. Jessa Snippes had a good weekend in the circle for the 'U'. She posted a 0.00 ERA in 3 appearances and 5.2 innings pitched. She gave up 1 unearned run and struck out two. Sydney Schwartz also had another good weekend in the circle. She posted a 3.00 ERA in 15.0 innings. She started 3 games with 1 complete game and 1 save while picking up 9 strikeouts. Opponents hit .246 off of Schwartz all weekend.
