Golden Gophers Finish Puerto Rico Classic Tied for 15th

RIO GRANDE, P.R.- The Golden Gopher women's golf team played the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic today, finishing tied for 15th in the 18 team field. Minnesota shot a 300 (+12) in the third round to close out the spring season opener with a score of 305-292-300-897(+33).
Sophomore duo Mariana Mesones and Sara Tomaszewski carded the team's day three low round, both shooting a two-over-par 74.
The University of Arkansas took home the team win with a final score of 292-280-273-845 (-19).
Notable:
Mesones grabbed two birdies and 12 pars in the final round to finish tied for 46th with a three-day score of 75-73-74-222 (+6).
Tomaszewski tallied one birdie and 14 pars to close the event tied for 81st. She closed the competition with a final score of 78-77-74-229 (+13).
Junior Isabella McCauley shot a five-over-par 77 in round three. She leaves Puerto Rico tied for 51st with a score of 77-69-77-223 (+7).
Reese McCauley closed out the event tied for 51st with a final score of 75-73-75-223 (+7). The freshman added two birdies and 12 pars to her scorecard in round three.
Junior Madison Le shot an eight-over-par 80 in round three. She tied for 94th and had a final score of 79-79-80-238 (+22).

The Gophers will be back in action on Feb. 23-24 at the Westbrook Invitational held at the Westbrook Village Golf Course in Peoria, Ariz.
