No. 3 Maroon & Gold Drop Back-to-Back Games Against No. 1 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - The third-ranked Golden Gopher women's hockey team will sit at a 22-8-1 (16-7-1 WCHA) record after being handed a 6-1 defeat by the top-ranked Wisconsin Badgers. Minnesota finishes 0-2-0 over the weekend at LaBahn Arena.
Both teams went scoreless during the opening period, with Wisconsin holding a 13-3 shot advantage. The Gophers successfully killed the Badger's only power play of the period while not getting any power play opportunities of their own.
Wisconsin opened the second period with three unanswered goals within the first eight minutes, first by Vivian Jungels during a four-on-four, second by Kirsten Simms at even-strength, and then third by Lacey Eden on a power play. Redshirt-junior forward Emma Conner put Minnesota on the board near the midpoint of the period, however the Badgers responded with a Casey O'Brien shorthanded goal four minutes later. It was the first shorthanded goal given up by the Gophers all season. The score held at 4-1 heading into the final intermission. Minnesota saw many more shot opportunities throughout the second period, tallying 14 SOG to Wisconsin's 17 SOG.
Wisconsin added two more goals in the third period, courtesy of Claire Enright and Kelly Gorbatenko, which ultimately went unanswered through the end of the game.

- Emma Conner scored her fourth goal of the season and 15th point of her career.
- Sydney Morrow recorded her 15th assist and 25th overall point of the season.
- Abbey Murphy recorded her team-leading 51st point of the season.
- Abbey Murphy has recorded at least one point in 24 out of Minnesota's 30 games this season.
- Hannah Clark recorded a career-high 37 saves.
- Hannah Clark recorded her first-career penalty shot save.
- Wisconsin out-shot Minnesota 42-25.
