The Gophers have one more regular season meet before Big Ten Championships

MINNEAPOLIS -- The No. 15 Minnesota gymnastics team defeated Illinois State 197.125-195.200 on Saturday afternoon in their penultimate meet of the regular season. It was Minnesota's fourth time this year going over 197.

Minnesota improved to 11-1 (8-1 B1G) on the season, including a perfect 5-0 at home.

"I feel really good about our depth," said head coach Jenny Hansen. Obviously our top six have been consistent, but our seventh, eighth and ninth are really pushing to make lineups. It just makes all of us stronger."

The Gophers earned 49.300 on vault, 49.175 on bars, 49.200 on beam and 49.350 on floor. Illinois State went 49.125 on vault, 48.650 on bars, 48.250 on beam and 49.175 on the floor.



Minnesota's floor score of 49.450 tied a season-best on the event. Marissa Jencks nailed a career-best 9.875 while Sophie Swartzmiller hit the same score in her first ever non-exhibition routine.

"I had tears in my eyes there for Sophie," Hansen said. "We needed someone to step in today and she's been doing the job. It's so fun for us to see what she does everyday and then be rewarded for it.

Mya Hooten (9.900 on vault, 9.950 on floor) took home her fourth vault title of the year and ninth floor title. Jordyn Lyden (9.900 on both) won her sixth bars event title and fourth beam title.

There were no all-around performers on Saturday.

EVENT BREAKDOWN:

VAULT
The Gophers earned a team score of 49.300 on vault. Mya Hooten won the event title with her second best score of the year with a 9.925. Ava Stewart posted a 9.900, her third 9.000-or-higher this season. Teryn Crump went 9.850 while Lauren Pearl (9.825) and Marissa Jencks (9.800) completed the five scores.

BARS
Jordyn Lyden won her sixth bars event title this year with a 9.900 to lead the Gophers, who scored 49.175. Teryn Crump was up next with a 9.850, followed by Hooten and Stewart with 9.825s. Marissa Jencks rounded out the group with a 9.775.

BEAM
Minnesota had a solid beam showing, posting a score of 49.200. Jordyn Lyden led the group with a 9.900 while Lauren Pearl and Ava Stewart were second, posting 9.850s. Sarah Moraw came after her with a 9.825. Brooklyn Rowray earned the fifth and final counted score with a 9.775.

FLOOR
The 'U' completed its day on the floor with a score of 49.450, which tied a season-best. Marissa Jencks started out the group with a career-high 9.875. Sophie Swartzmiller, in her first non-exhibition on floor, went 9.875 as well. Leah Gonsiorowski tied her career-best with a 9.900 before Mya Hooten closed with a season-high 9.950. Hooten took home her ninth floor title in nine tries. Emily Koch and Lauren Pearl closed out the group with 9.850s.

NOTABLE:
-Mya Hooten won the vault event title with a 9.925, her second best score on the event this season. She went a season-best 9.950 to on floor to win her ninth event title in nine tries.
-Ava Stewart went 9.900 on vault, her third 9.900-or-higher vault in 2025.
-Lauren Pearl earned a 9.850 on the floor, her seventh straight meet with a 9.850-or-better.
-Jordyn Lyden went 9.900 on bars to win the event title, her sixth on the event this season. It was her fourth time going 9.900-or-better, all in the last five meets.
-Lyden took home her fourth beam title this season with a 9.900. It was her third time at 9.900 or tied her career-high.
-Marissa Jencks earned a career-high 9.875 on her floor routine. 9.850 was her previous best.
-In her first non-exhibition competition, Sophie Swartzmiller went 9.875 on the floor.
-Leah Gonsiorowski tied her career and season-high with a 9.900 on the floor.
