Macfarlane to Represent 'U' on B1G Student-Athlete Issues Commission

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Nuala Macfarlane is the lone representative from the University of Minnesota on the Big Ten Conference Student-Athlete Issues Commission (SAIC) for the 2025-2026 academic year, it was announced Wednesday. Student-athletes are nominated by their institution and appointed by the Conference's Joint Group Executive Committee to serve on the commission for one academic year.
Macfarlane is in her senior season with the Golden Gophers rowing team and has competed in every regatta since stepping onto campus in the fall of 2022. A native of Marlow, England, she was part of the Maroon and Gold's First Varsity Four crew that was named B1G Boat of the Week in April after defeating both San Diego and Kansas at the Big 12/Big Ten Double Duel in Kansas City, Kan.
Over the course of her four-year career in Dinkytown, Macfarlane has earned two CRCA Scholar-Athlete Award honors, twice been named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team and was given the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award in 2023-24.
