MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota senior Sarah Moraw was named as a nominee for the AAI Award, which will be presented to the nation's most outstanding senior.

The AAI Award is widely considered the Heisman Trophy of women's gymnastics. AAI has been awarding this honor for over 30 years. NCAA head coaches were asked to submit a nomination for the candidate or candidates of their choice. After the initial nominations, the field is narrowed to the top six student-athletes. 13 student-athletes from the Big Ten were nominated.

Former Gopher Lexy Ramler was the last Minnesota gymnast to win the award, which she did in 2021.

A senior gymnast from Holland, Michigan, Moraw has been a leader and a core contributor to Minnesota women's gymnastics for the past four seasons. In the gym, she's been a key figure in both the vault and balance beam lineups for the past four years, earning career-highs of 9.900 on vault and 9.950 on balance beam.  An All-Big Ten Second Team honoree in 2025, Moraw also made the Big Ten All-Championships Team in 2024.

The performance of her career came during the 2024 Big Ten Championships at Michigan State, where she won a share of the Big Ten Balance Beam title for the Gophers with a 9.925 score. Moraw has helped the Gophers to three NCAA Regionals, including two NCAA Regional Finals appearances. Minnesota also finished second at the 2024 Big Ten Championships, missing out on the title by just .100.

Outside the gym, Moraw is on the Gophers leadership council and is the main liaison to TEAM Impact and the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital. She organizes team events with TEAM Impact and has led multiple toy drives for the UofM Children's Hospital.
