2016-17 Freshman Season: Earned two fourth-place finishes against Wisconsin: 50-yard back (24.02) and 100-yard back (51.37).
High School/Club: Graduate of Red Wing High School, where he swam for coaches Kevin O’Brian, Steve Clark, Gene Peterson and Sue Forestberg • a Minnesota Swimmer of the Year nominee in 2016 • 2016 Class AA state champion in the 100 back • set the school and state record in the 100 back with a time of 48.87 • swam the 50 free in 21.31 • was named all-conference in 2012, 2013 and 2015 • earned all-state honors in 2013, 2015 and 2016 • named an All-American in 2015 and 2016 • swam for the Red Wing Swim Club under the direction of coach Ann Frost.
Personal: Son of Chuck and Tami Connelly • has two brothers, Nick and Christian • brother, Nick, is an offensive lineman for the Gophers • intends to major in International Business.
