2021 Cross Country • Sophomore Season: Named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree • finished 90th in the men's 8k "B" race at the Nuttycombe Invitational in a time of 27:42.1 • claimed a second place finish at Jack’s Twilight Run, finishing the 6K race in 19:30 • competed in the men’s 8K race at the St. Olaf Invitational, but did not finish.

High School: A 2020 graduate of Wayzata High School where he competed for coaches Mark Popp and Erik Jahn • varsity letterwinner in cross country and track & field • earned all-state, all-section, and all-conference honors in cross country as a senior in 2019 • won Region 6AA individual title as a senior in 2019 • placed seventh at the 2019 Minnesota Class AA Cross Country State Championships as a senior • won Lake Conference cross country individual championship as a senior in 2019 • four-time Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional participant • placed fifth at the 2019 Nike Cross Nationals Heartland Regional and went on to come in 111th at Nike Cross Nationals as a senior • named first team all-region in cross country as a senior • member of back-to-back state and regional championship teams in cross country as a freshman and sophomore before team finished third at the state meet as a junior • part of Wayzata’s undefeated regular-season cross country season as a freshman • earned all-section honors in track & field as a junior in 2019 • placed 15th in the 1600m on the way to Wayzata’s team title at the 2019 Minnesota Class AA Track & Field State Championship as a junior • finished as Section 6AA runner-up in the 1600m as a junior • owns high school personal bests of 2:08 for 800m, 4:18 for 1600m, 9:31 for 3200m, and 15:19 for cross country 5K.
Personal: Son of Deq Hussein and Safi Abdalla • has three siblings, Khalid, Zakaria, and Yusuf • intends to major in Business • joins his brother Khalid in competing for the Gophers • knows how to juggle with one hand.
