Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award
Academic All-Big Ten
• Raced in five regattas with the novice squad during her first year on the team
• Part of the 1N8 boat's third-place finish at the Big Ten Championship (May 19), the Gophers' first medal since 2018
• Competed in all three races for the 1N8 at the Big Ten Invitational in Sarasota, Fla., placing third and second Friday (Apr. 19) before a third-place finish Saturday (Apr. 20)
• Won twice with the 1N8 at the Big 12/Big Ten Double Dual (Apr. 12) in races versus Kansas and Kansas State
• Took part in an exhibition race in a dual with Gonzaga (Mar. 10) from Chula Vista, Calif.
• Made her collegiate debut at the Head of the Mississippi Regatta (Oct. 7) to begin the season with a third-place finish on the 2N8 crew
 
PERSONAL
• Daughter of Bryan and Amy Balcome
• Has an older sister, Ashley, an older brother, Justin, and a younger brother, Jacob
• Father, Bryan, played basketball and football at Augsburg
• Brother, Justin, is currently playing college basketball at Dakota State and brother, Jacob, is on the track and field team at Wisconsin-River Falls
• Graduated from Alexandria Area High School in 2021 with gold honors
• Earned four varsity letters in swimming, two in the orchestra, and one in basketball with the Cardinals
• Landed on the Central Lakes Conference Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll
• Won a Section 3AAA basketball title and went on to finish third at the MSHSL state tournament in 2020
• Finished as the Section 6A runner up in swimming and diving
• Competed with the Alex Swim Club from 2010-20
• Has played the cello for 10 years
• Enjoys spending time on the lake, attending college and professional sporting events, and traveling in her free time
• Chose to attend the University of Minnesota because of "the great kinesiology program and for the ability to be immersed in such a diverse community"
