MEN'S TENNIS TEAM DEFEATS MICHIGAN STATE, 5-2

MiAfter dropping the three doubles matches to lose the doubles point, the University of Minnesota men's tennis team came storming back to record wins in five of the six singles matches and defeat the Michigan State Spartans by a score of 5-2 Sunday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.

The Golden Gophers comeback started in the No. 1 singles match where sophomore Tyson Parry defeated Michigan State's Trey Eubanks in three sets, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. After Minnesota freshman Thomas Haug dropped the No. 2 singles match to Ken Kigongo 2-6, 6-3, 7-6, the Gophers went on to record four straight wins. Golden Gophers Adam Selkirk, Jon Svensson, Martin Michalowski and Jorge Duenas won all of their respective singles with straight set victories to cement the Minnesota victory.

The win for Minnesota raises their record to 11-10 overall and 6-3 in the Big Ten. The Golden Gophers will finish their regular season on Saturday night when they will face the Penn State Nittany Lions at the 98th Street Racquet Club.
