MEN'S TENNIS TEAM CRUSHES PENN STATE 7-0

Minnesota took all six singles matches and dropped only one doubles match to complete the sweep of the Nittany Lions. Sophomore Tyson Parry won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-6 over Mike Griesser. Freshman sensation Thomas Haug finished his first year in the Big Ten with a nearly flawless 9-1 mark in singles play. Haug defeated Marc Dorfman 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
Senior Adam Selkirk defeated Eric Meditz 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and sophomore Jon Svensson easily won over Marc McCallister 6-2, 6-2. Junior Martin Michalowski defeated Matthew Nielsen 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and sophomore Jorge Duenas cruised to a 6-1, 6- 2 victory over Christopher DeStafano at the No. 6 singles position.
The No. 1 doubles team of Michalowski and freshman Ryan Davies defeated Meditz and Dorfman, 8-5. Also winning in doubles play was senior Martin Kristoffersen and Haug at the No. 3 position with a 8-5 victory over Nielson and Damon Accardi.
Minnesota will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., next weekend to compete at the 1999 Big Ten Championships Thursday - Sunday, April 29 - May 2.
