MEN'S TENNIS TEAM DEFEATS INDIANA 4-3

Senior Tom Chicoine of Neenah, Wis., got the Golden Gophers started with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Indiana1s Ian Arons at the No. 1 singles position. Sophomore Tyson Parry also won his match at No. 2 singles wth a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Gabe Montilla.
Also winning singles matches for Minnesota was sophomore Jorge Duenas with a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory in three sets over Paul Jacobson at the No. 5 singles position. Rounding out the singles matches, freshman Thomas Haug defeated Rahman Smiley with a 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 victory. Junior Martin Michalowski went into two tiebreaker sets at the No. 4 singles position, but lost 7-5, 7-6 (4) to Milan Rakuica.
Minnesota dropped all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Chicoine and Michalowski went into a tiebreaker set with Montilla and Smiley, but lost 9-8 (10).
The Golden Gophers will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., tomorrow afternoon to face the Purdue Boilermakers.
