MEN'S TENNIS TOPS WISCONSIN 5-2

thThe No. 36-ranked Univeristy of Minneosta men's tennis team defeated Wisconsin this evening 5-2 at the Northwest Athletic Club at 98th Street in Bloomington. Minnesota is now 9-9 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten.

Freshman Thomas Haug remains undefeated in the Big Ten at 6-0 with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory over Wisconsin's Stefan Reist at the No. 3 singles position. Senior Adam Selkirk also won his match with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Danny Westerman at the No. 4 position. Sophomore Tyson Parry won his match at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0 over David Chang. Also winning in singles matches was junior Martin Michalowski witha 6-3, 6-3 score over Jason Gonzaga at the No. 6 singles position.

Minnesota also claimed the doubles point winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, senior Martin Kristoffersen and Michalowski defeated Mark Loughrin and Adam Schumacher 8-6. Also winning in doubles was Parry and Selkirk with a 8-5 victory over Westerman and Jason Baker.

The Golden Gophers will host Iowa tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. at the Northwest Athletic Club at 98th Street in Bloomington, Minn.
